Many people don't understand what separates one herbal material from another. All Pueraria Mirifica is indeed not created equal. The whole idea is to obtain the highest levels of Deoxymiroestrol and Miroestrol and other secondary and tertiary actives. What is Miroestrol? Miroestrol is one of the principal phytoestrogens that is considered an active ingredient in Pueraria Mirifica. Miroestrol is roughly equal to 17 beta estradiol and approximately 500 times more potent than bio-identical hormones! Deoxymiroestrol is as much as 10 times more potent than 17 beta estradiol and as much as10 times more potent than miroestrol. In high quality Pueraria Mirifica deoxymiroestrol is dominant in activity and can dominate the chromene mix. Wild Pueraria Mirifica may have little or no deoxymiroestrol or miroestrol! The great challenges for wilders is gathering wild pueraria mirifica from remote locations, crude processing techniques, gathering the wrong species and /or travel time to a factory. This translates into compromised actives. Why not standardized extracts made from wild plants? Although some have claimed to standardize miroestrol, it is unlikely that this is the case. It is unlikely they even have the ability to actually measure the chromene actives! The main problem is that the large commercial companies do not have any mirioestrol. It took a Nobel prize winning chemist to synthesize it and it is very difficult to isolate. There are only two academic groups in the whole world that have miroestrol! LCMS is an excellent methodology and can be very accurate. This type of testing is quite complex and needs to be validated. To validate you need mirioestrol, pueraria mirifica needs to be tested on HPLC method. This is the big problem, no miroestrol, no validation. To actually do a credible job standardizing pueraria mirifica a lot more science needs to be done. It would be equally important to standardize the spinosterols, deoxymiroestrol, kwakhurin and the other 15 or 20 secondary actives in the plant. To this date no one in the world can do that. The problem with using "a best guess" (LCMS) method for one key active you really do not know what you have ended up with. Safety is key. A farmed standard, uniform superior genetics, nutrient enrichment , length of harvest cycle is critical for consistent high quality Pueraria Mirifica. In addition there are other species (ex.Pueraria candollei ) that look identical to pueraria mirifica. This plant contains no chromenes. Many times wilders mix this species with pueraria mirifica. With wild pueraria mirifica you really never know what you get: species, genetics, age of plant etc.....quality

Abtract: Beneficial Estrogenic Effects of Pueraria mirifica on Vaginal Health in Postmenopausal Women

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of Pueraria mirifica on vaginal symptoms, vaginal health index, vaginal pH, and vaginal cytology in healthy post-menopausal women. DESIGN: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. Healthy postmenopausal women, age 45 to 60 years old, were enrolled voluntarily and randomly received 20, 30, or 50 mg of Pueraria mirifica in capsules or placebo in identical capsules once daily for 24 weeks. RESULTS : After 24 weeks of treatment, 71 women were evaluated. Fifty-one of 71 randomly received one of the three doses of Pueraria mirifica, and the remaining 20 received placebo. The mean vaginal dryness symptom in the Pueraria mirifica group decreased after 12 weeks of treatment. Pueraria mirifica increased vaginal maturation index (parabasal:intermediate:superficial cells) from 46:43:11 to 11:65:24 after 24 weeks of treatment. There was no significant difference of adverse effects between the Pueraria mirifica and placebo groups in this study. CONCLUSIONS: Pueraria mirifica was proven to exhibit estrogenicity on vaginal tissue, to alleviate vaginal dryness symptoms and dyspareunia, to improve sgns of vaginal atrophy, and to restore the atrophic vaginal epithelium in healthy postmenopausal women.

Research indicates agents that stimulate nitric oxide release extend life. Butea Superba may indeed support cardiac health. It is used in Thai medicine as a tonic for older men. Animal studies demonstrate increases in LH and FSH (increased sperm production). There is a potent androgen that exists in the plant. The profound increases in LH in animal studies lends itself to this premise. Plating studies demonstrate (ACHE) acetylcholinesterase inhibition supporting memory in older men. Abstract
Aim: To study the effect of Butea superba on erectile dysfunction (ED) in Thai males. Methods: A 3-month randomized double-blind clinical trial was carried out in volunteers with ED, aged 30 years ~ 70 years, to evaluate the therapeutic effect of the crude preparation of Butea superba tubers on ED. Results: There was a significant upgrading in 4 of the 5 descriptive evaluations of the IIEF-5 questionnaire. Estimation of the sexual record indicated that 82.4 % of the patients exhibited noticeable improvement. Hematology and blood chemistry analysis revealed no apparent change. Conclusion: The plant preparation appears to improve the erectile function in ED patients without apparent toxicity.
